This unique high-gain amp in a pedal-format delivers tight, characterful sounds, and it is... more
This unique high-gain amp in a pedal-format delivers tight, characterful sounds, and it is the perfect combination of real tube tone and 100 watts of power in an unrivaled compact and lightweight format. In cooperation with experienced, international metal guitarists, BluGuitar founder and professional guitarist Thomas Blug has developed this amp from the ground up, and, unlike the acclaimed AMP1 Mercury Edition, he voiced the AMP1 Iridium Edition uncompromisingly towards modern metal. bluguitar_product-amp1_iridium_edition-front-cropped
bluguitar_product-amp1_iridium_edition-side-cropped Three independent overdrive channels deliver rich and tight distortion sounds that can be changed in gain structure and timbre. Each of these channels offers different kinds of attack, response and dynamics. The modern CLEAN channel with massive headroom and treble reserves delivers transparent sparkling clean sounds, even in conjunction with mid-heavy humbuckers.
The revolutionary Nanotube technology, which is in no way inferior to classic tube amps in terms of sound and feel, power and character, has already set a new standard for guitar amps in AMP1 Mercury Edition. As with the best metal amps, the AMP1 Iridium Edition's specially tuned metal current feedback loop reacts with both the speaker and the Nanotube power amp to deliver the ultimate punch and tight metal low-end.
The concept with a switchable and adjustable boost, reverb, three integrated foot switches and a first-class speaker simulation for recording applications leaves nothing to be desired.

STARTUP MODES: HALF POWER MODE / PRESET MODE / LOW GAIN MODE
Besides the Standard Mode (or Normal Mode) - which is the factory setting - you can start the AMP1 Iridium Edition in different operating modes:

  • In Half Power Mode the output power of the AMP1 Iridium Edition is reduced to 50 Watts, so you can play a 60W speaker cabinet (e.g. BluGuitar NANOCAB or FATCAB) with full Nanotube saturation. To activate it, press and hold the left foot switch while switching the AMP1 Iridium Edition on.
  • In Preset Mode the AMP1 Iridium Edition's three foot switches recall previously stored presets that contain settings for CHANNEL, BOOST, REVERB and FX-LOOP ON/OFF. To activate it, press and hold the right foot switch while switching the AMP1 Iridium Edition on.
  • In Low Gain Mode the gain is reduced on all channels. This makes it possible to realize sounds as known from the "LOW" input of vintage amps. To activate it, press and hold the middle foot switch while switching the AMP1 Iridium Edition on.

INDIVIDUAL CHANNEL GAIN
With the help of the REMOTE1 and depending on the position of the overdrive gain pot on the AMP1 Iridium Edition, you can reduce the gain for each channel individually. To do this, first connect the REMOTE1 to the AMP1 Iridium Edition. Then select a channel on the REMOTE1 and set the desired maximum gain: Press and hold BOOST on the REMOTE1 until the switch starts flashing. Now you can set the desired maximum gain with the rotary knob on the REMOTE1. To store this value in the AMP1 Iridium Edition, hold down the middle foot switch on the AMP1 for three seconds and then confirm with the right foot switch

FX-LOOP ON/OFF
In a MIDI setup using the MIDI1 adapter, the AMP1 Iridium Edition's FX loop can be switched on and off via Control Change command. If your MIDI setup cannot send Control Changes, or if you are not using MIDI at all, you can switch the FX loop on the AMP1 Iridium Edition directly. To do so, remove the MIDI1 adapter (if necessary), press and hold down the middle foot switch for 3 seconds and use the right foot switch to toggle between FX-LOOP ON and OFF. You can then either use MIDI LEARN to store the current status of the FX loop in a MIDI preset (please reconnect MIDI1 for this!) or store to a preset on one of the three internal foot switches of the AMP1 Iridium Edition.

SPEAKER SIMULATION ON/OFF
If you want to use your own speaker simulation (e.g. using an IR loader or IRs coming from plugins in your DAW), you can switch off the internal speaker simulation of the AMP1 Iridium Edition. To do so, make sure that the AMP1 Iridium Edition is in normal mode and that neither REMOTE1 nor MIDI1 is connected to the footswitch jack. Hold down the middle foot switch. Once it blinks, you can use the left foot switch to toggle between SPEAKER SIMULATION ON and OFF while still holding down the middle foot switch. This is a global setting that will remain even after restarting the unit.
